Tonight I took a break from studying for midterms, and sat down with my good friend Andrea Corwin- a freshman at Regent University studying Foreign Affairs and Business. She’s extremely intelligent, passionate about serving, and probably the most hard core user of sarcasm I’ve been blessed to meet.
Julia: What is your favorite social issue?
Andrea: Without a doubt the pro-life movement. When I was in the 8th and 12th grade, I interned at the Family Foundation. They showed me different policies and legislation which explained how abortion affects people. Seeing that made me understand more and more how the life of the unborn needs to be protected. I like discussing the abortion issue with people because I’m very passionate about it, and would really like to see Roe v. Wade overturned in the near future.
Julia: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Andrea: I’d be 28 almost 29. Wow! That’s crazy. Hmm.. Hopefully I will be living in Germany, married with a couple of kids, and working for the United States government or military. I’m pretty open about exactly what I will be doing, but I know that I want to work for the U.S. over there. I’ve loved Germany and it’s rich history for a really long time. Hopefully I will be fluent in German in 10 years time. I’m working on it.
Julia: What do you think about women being allowed to fight in combat?
Andrea: I see men and women as equals in most things. However, I don’t think every women is capable of fighting in combat. A lot of the time, we’re the weaker sex. But should the ones who have the necessary skills that are needed be able to fight? Yes.
Julia: Name your favorite President and why.
Andrea: Thomas Jefferson all the way. He was just so intelligent and multifaceted! From politics to architecture to agriculture, he was well-informed and very inspirational. Plus, we share a birthday.
