In what will more than likely will go down in history as just another State of the Union address and what some commentators are saying could mark the beginning of President Barack Obama’s slide into lame duck-ness, many were stricken with the Presidents lack of accountability in regards to his signature achievement as President, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
The President said little to nothing substantial on any sort of effort to curb the exchanges under enrollment, especially within the millennial age group that is crucial to the success of the bill. He also offered no apology to the millions of Americans who had their plans cancelled due to the new law and was silent on his now infamous broken promise that
These omissions came just hours after retiring cancer stricken Senator Tom Coburn (R-Oklahoma) revealed that his oncologist is no longer covered on his new health plan, and he will have to pay for the cancer specialist out of pocket. In another shot to the ACA, the speech was attended by many regular Americans who have had their plans cancelled and premiums increase, guests of Republican Members of Congress.
Sooner or later, this administration will need to be held accountable to the people for the train wreck that this law has become. For Republicans, the path to control of the US Senate is widening everyday.
