Ladies and gentlemen, we finally got a first peek into Disney & J.J. Abrams’ interpretation of Star Wars. If you didn’t know that Disney bought Lucasfilm for $4 billion dollars and has been working secretly on three continuations, then you’re doing it wrong.
On November 28, the internet population got an 88-second inside look at the interpretation of Star Wars from two amazing storytellers. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to see amazing storytelling that is safe for the entire family. From the looks of it we get the basic storyline: “dark vs. light,” a fight of good vs. evil.
Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens is due to come out in December 2015 and J.J. Abrams opening line is amazing: “There’s been an awakening. Have you felt it?” It’s time to get the lightsabers and long robes out.
Not only will the the 37-year-old saga created by George Lucas continue, but it also brings the old cast back from the Star Wars archives like Harrison Ford as Han Solo, Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Kenny Baker as R2-D2, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, and many more. The last time this cast was together was in 1983 for the creation of Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.
Is the world ready for the continuation of one of the best sagas ever created? Movie technology has grown, and Episode VII could be the beginning of good, powerful storytelling. In today’s crazy world we go to the theaters to forget and by the looks of it this world needs a good story. Let the continuation begin!
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away….
I like when comedians take on the task to predict companies outcome especially when is something as drastic like Disney taking over the storytelling for Star Wars. Earlier this year StudioC created a skit predicting the outcome between the merger of Lucasfilm and Disney. Let’s hope that Disney’s positive influence doesn’t destroy the rest of the movie.
