“Everything that is done in the world is done by hope”– Dr. King
In today’s world, we are so connected, but at the same time, we are losing our humanity. If I were to ask you, what is your dream? Would you be able to give an answer? We are going down a path of division and divided we will not accomplish the dream of a better future. I am not asking you to be the next Dr. Martin Luther King, but I am asking, did you stop dreaming?
Why was Dr. King’s speech so powerful? That had the power to change an entire nation. Dr. King had leadership qualities that people looked up to. A true leader like Dr. King will engage to the heart of the people and will not sugarcoat the truth. In addition, a leader will not accept the status quo or refuse to settle. Dr. King painted a vivid picture for a better future. He also acknowledged all the sacrifice that the people were doing for the cause. Every person should copy these qualities from Dr. King in order for us to be the leaders that will change the nation for the better.
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.” (John 13:34 ESV)
As Dr. King went down the “I have a dream…” notice that his demands were about bringing people together as one.
- I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal.
- I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.
- I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification; one day right down in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers. I have a dream today!
Why was Dr. King successful and can anyone, accomplish that success? This success is possible for any man and women that is willing to work and take on the evil of this world by spreading love and hope. Dr. King was successful because he had biblical and historical knowledge. If you see, he quotes the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and God. Three things that people are lacking today. By knowing, acknowledging, and accepting the deep connection between all three this nation can align itself back and be the America that our founding fathers would have wanted us to be.
“An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.” (Proverbs 18:15 ESV)
Now I ask, did you stop dreaming? If you did then, what is going to spark you to dream again? Have you given up? Are you losing hope? Always look up to God so that wisdom and knowledge falls upon you since only He can give it.
“A wise man is full of strength, and a man of knowledge enhances his might.” (Proverbs 24:5 ESV)
