Male, Female, or ‘Other’

If I were to ask, what’s your gender? I would expect you to say male or female. Fusion’s Massive Millennial Poll conducted a survey and asked 1,000 people nationwide from ages ranging 18 to 34, which are called Millennials. The methodology of the survey consists of gender, region, age, race, ideology, and education. Gender was divided into male and female. Region was divided into Northeast, Midwest, South, and West. Age was divided into three groups 18-24, 25-29, and 30-34. Race was divided into three groups white, hispanic, and african american.

  • Northeast covering Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, or Vermont representing 17% of the poll.
  • Midwest covering Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, or South Dakota representing 22%.
  • South covering Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, or Texas representing 37%.
  • West covering Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico, Montana, Utah, Nevada, Wyoming, Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon, or Washington representing 24%.

Fusion’s Massive Millennial Poll conducted over the phone interviews on January 6 till January 11. Fusion’s Massive Millennial Poll gave three options when asked about gender. Option one: There are only two genders, male and female. According to the poll, males, the south, age group 30-34, African Americans, Conservatives and high school graduates agreed with this option. Option two: Gender is a spectrum, and some people fall outside conventional categories. According to the poll, the majority of the categories agreed on this view like females, age group 18-29, liberals, and college graduates. Option three: don’t know. Which ranged from one to eight percent.
