On Monday, former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina formally entered the race for the Republican nomination for President in 2016. On the same day, she released her new book Rising to the Challenge which tells Fiorina’s story in her own words describing how she overcame hardships such as battling cancer and losing her step-daughter to suicide to become the woman she is today. Not only does this book help introduce Carly to the public, but it also creates a clear contrast between Mrs. Fiorina’s rise to that of Hillary Clinton. As you will learn in her book, Carly Fiorina is a self-made, vastly successful businesswoman; whereas, Mrs. Clinton arguably used her husbands Presidency to launch her own political career.
In less than 48 hours following her campaign kick off, Fiorina made appearances on Good Morning America, Katie Couric, The Skimm, Kathie Lee and Hoda, Tech Crunch Disrupt, and Late Night with Seth Meyers. Like several other 2016 candidates, Fiorina’s launch didn’t take place without a digital media snafu. Althought Fiorina owns CarlyFiorina.com, she failed to purchase CarlyFiorina.Org and a left leaning person decided to purchase the domain and make this the homepage:
According to Fiorina’s Facebook page, the domain was purchased by an SEUI staffer “one of Hillary’s biggest cheerleaders– just around the time I [Fiorina] became one of Hillary’s most effective critics.” Tuesday night, Mrs. Fiorina went on Late Night with Seth Meyers and the host brought up the website mishap.
Mrs. Fiorina’s ability to turn what could’ve been a campaign disater into a hilarious joke shows just a glimpse at her powerful ability to battle the Lefts attacks. To make it even better, Fiorina’s team has taken this chance to turn the situation into a fundraising opptertunity.
In the few days that Carly Fiorina has been in the race, she has showcased many of her talents including taking Hillary Clinton to task and using media appearances the right way. Although many people believe Fiorina is only gunning for the Vice Presidency, I think it’s safe to say she’s going to be a candidate you’ll want to keep your eye on.
