The Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday that U.S. Senator Marco Rubio will reserve airtime in the first four states of the Republican nomination process. By reserving ads early, the Journal predicts the Rubio campaign will secure lower rates.
Since 1976, the Iowa caucuses have been the first contest in the Republican nomination process. This year, it is set on Monday, February 1st and features two candidates who have previously won the Iowa caucus. Former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum won the 2012 contest and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee won the 2008 Iowa caucus.
The New Hampshire primary is set on Tuesday, February 9th. The South Carolina primary will be held the following week on Saturday, February 20th. The Nevada caucuses will be three days later on Tuesday, February 23rd. No other contest will be held in February.
