A new video released by the Center for Medical Progress depicts the practice of fetal parts being extracted in a California Planned Parenthood clinic. Dr. Savita Ginde, who is vice-president and medical director of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, is shown in the video discussing the sale of the parts.
The video, which was released earlier today, begins with an interview with Holly O’Donnell, a former Procurement Technician with StemExpress. She claims that abortion clinics like Planned Parenthood get “financial benefits” from working with companies like StemExpress.
“We pay them to use their facilities,” O’Donnell said, who goes on to name several body parts that StemExpress procured. “It’s basically a trafficking in fetal tissue.”
The video also shows a screenshot from StemExpress’s website which says in part, “The StemExpress partner program fiscally rewards clinics for contributing…” and has an entire page devoted to the “financial benefits” of partnering with the company.
Note: When this article was published, the StemExpress website still had a section on “financial benefits” for “clinics,” although it appears to be slightly different from the web page that the video shows.
US law prohibits the sale of fetal tissue, under 42 US Code 289G-2: “It shall be unlawful for any person to knowingly acquire, receive, or otherwise transfer any human fetal tissue for valuable consideration if the transfer affects interstate commerce.”
O’Donnell goes on to assert that more developed fetuses are more valuable, providing an incentive for abortion clinics to preserve older fetuses.
The last few minutes of the video contain disturbing content and should be viewed with discretion. O’Donnell describes her first day on the job where she claims she was immediately told to start procuring fetal tissue from a dish containing matter from an aborted fetus.
An undercover video is edited over her story, showing the inside of an abortion clinic in Shasta Diablo, California. In the video an actor posing as a “buyer” identifies fetal body parts in a dish, including kidneys, a spinal cord, and what appears to be an arm. The fetus is identified as being 11.6 weeks old.
In the video Dr. Savita Ginde, who is vice-president and medical director of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, says, “That looks in-tact. That’s good to go. Five stars,” she laughs.
In discussing payment, Ginde goes on to say, “I think the per-item thing works out a little better, just because we can see how much we can get out of it.”
This is the third edited video released by the Center for Medical Progress, although they have also released unedited “full footage” videos of their undercover operations.
The first video featured Deborah Nucatola, the senior director of medical research at Planned Parenthood, discussing the broad practice of selling fetal parts and how abortionists will “crush” the unborn baby in a way that does not damage the fetal tissue.
The second video showed Dr. Mary Gatter, President of Planned Parenthood’s Medical Directors’ Council, haggling over the price of fetal parts.
This newest video is entitled “Human Capital – Episode 1: Planned Parenthood’s Black Market in Baby Parts,” indicating that there will be more videos released in the future.
Planned Parenthood has continued to assert that their clinics only donate fetal tissue and are not paid for it. Some legal experts have indicated that Planned Parenthood could be exploiting loopholes in the law in order to receive monetary compensation for the use of their facilities or the shipping of the body parts.
