Searching for the Next American President

It’s easy for me to get caught up in the day-to-day headlines and controversies surrounding the various people campaigning to be the next President of the United States of America.

Although certain candidates stand out to me more than others, the time has come for me to stop and take a moment to reflect on some of the qualities I would like to see in the next American President.

We’re blessed with the opportunity to stand for something – for liberty and freedom and fairness – these are things worth fighting for, worth devoting our lives to. -Ronald Reagan

The next American President should rally his fellow countrymen around the principles of American exceptionalism, articulated from a belief that emanates from his own heart.

If you want to test a man’s character, give him power. -Abraham Lincoln

The Presidency ought to be reserved for a person of character, because the next American President will lead the greatest country on earth.

Where there is no vision, there is no hope. -George Washington Carver

The next President should be putting forth bold, innovative solutions to the most pressing problems in America.

Those who lack courage will always find a philosophy to justify it. -Albert Camus

The next President should possess the backbone to make the hard decisions, even if it might be unpopular.

Reveres Liberty

To know liberty is to cherish it. -Mark Levin

The next American President has demonstrated that he fights for the rights and liberties of others and that he will dedicate his administration to reducing governmental interference in our lives.

A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus. -Martin Luther King, Jr.

Someone who not only takes a stand for liberty but does it even if it means he has to stand alone.

Believes in Rule of Law

The Constitution is the guide which I will never abandon. -George Washington

The next President is someone who has shown he or she will seek to adhere to the Constitution as the ultimate authority. America is unique, because we were founded on the principle that mere men are not supreme.

Humility is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less. -C.S. Lewis

Anyone who runs for President is ambitious, but the President ought to possess a sense of humility knowing that his responsibilities are to the Constitution, to the people, and to God.

Knowledge comes, but wisdom lingers. It may not be difficult to store up in the mind a vast quantity of facts within a comparatively short time, but the ability to form judgments requires the severe discipline of hard work and the tempering heat of experience and maturity. -Calvin Coolidge

The next American President ought to have sound judgment and the wherewithal to discern the best course for the country.

I firmly believe that an American President should represent the best of us. What qualities are you looking for in the next American President? Comment below.

The qualities of a great man are vision, integrity, courage, understanding, the power of articulation, and profundity of character.               -Dwight Eisenhower

  1. Experience would help…I’m sick to death of Amateur Hour in the WH.

Because of that I would look askance at anyone in their first term or who has never had executive experience.

Regan was a once in a lifetime or more candidate simply because of his experience earned with a job that was public speaking (talking his job providing motivational speeches to GE employee’s not acting) and experience as the Gov of CA.

Perry has much of the experience, and is firmly focused on a policy of states rights and individual freedoms but does not have the public speaking experience (even though he is sometime quite good). I’m afraid too many will look to a few seconds of silence four years ago and not give him a fair chance.
