UPSC is one of the most prestigious exams you can write if you are looking for a job in civil services, mainly in India. UPSC full form is the union public service commission, and they conduct this exam to qualify the right students for the role and select them. UPSC is not just one exam, but it has three parts. The first and foremost is the UPSC prelims (and only qualifying will allow you to appear for the later exams). The next is the UPSC Main which tests your knowledge on the more profound topics you will use once you get into employment following the Indian government.
And at last, once you qualify for the preliminary test (the primary and general qualification exam, i.e., the prelims), they will call you for personal interviews, i.e., the UPSC personality test. After that, they will finalize your position in a particular college based on your capabilities and interests.
You must remember that the UPSC prelims are just a qualifying round as it tests your basic knowledge of current affairs. So, the marks you score on the test will not affect your final score for your interviews. The UPSC central, also called the IAS main, is the essential paper you write (IAS full form is Indian administrative service). The board chooses the students best suited for the position from the crowd, and the ones who qualify will go for the interviews. Eligibility criteria
There are a few eligibility criteria that you must qualify for if you want to apply for the UPSC exam, and remember that if you are eligible for all three rounds of UPSC, you can even step a foot into the IPS domain. (IPS full form Indian police service).
- There is an age limit (mandatory and strict) for you to apply for UPSC, and it is between 21 and 33 years (you cannot compromise on that). You cannot write the UPSC exam if you are younger than 21 (which may change, so bear that in mind) or older than 33.
- It would help if you were a graduate to apply for the UPSC exam(any graduate, whether a three-year or a four-year degree). It doesn’t matter which domain you choose; you can go for the test as long as you prove that you graduated from a reputed institute.
- One preliminary (and the most important) requirement is that you must be an Indian. Students from other nationalities(other than India, of course) cannot apply for the test. As proof, you must provide any of your identities like an Aadhaar or PAN card.
