Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission conducts the UP Judiciary exam every year for the recruitment of Civil Judges. The notification for exam dates and relevant things would be updated on their official web page in October 2020. There are tentative 333 vacancies this year, which is not the exact number as no official confirmation for the same.
Eligibility criteria for UP Judicial Service exam 2020
Any Indian citizen holding a Law degree from a Recognized University can appear for the examination. There are exceptions to these criteria, which can be checked on their official webpage. The applicant must be a minimum of 22 years of age, with 35 years on the upper side. There are several relaxations in age given to reserved categories, which again can be checked on their platform.
Admit Card for the exam
After the online application is filled with the required documents and application fee, candidates would receive admit cards. They are released to be downloaded from the website 2 weeks before the UP Judiciary examination. Print Out of the admit card is necessary to appear in the examination.
UP Judiciary exam Pattern
The examination is conducted in 3 phases.
- Prelims exam- The exam consists of 2 papers, General Knowledge and Law, both multiple choice-based. The exam duration will be 2 hours, where the General Knowledge paper is of 150 marks and Law of 300 marks.
- Mains exam- The UP Judiciary syllabus consists of – General knowledge, Language, Law I, Law II and Law III. Each paper will be of 200 marks and 3 hours.
- Interview/Viva Voce- The final interview round is for all those candidates who qualify after the Mains exam. The round consists of 100 marks.

- Paper 3, 4 and 5- All important laws are stated in the specific subjects and their applications.
How to prepare for Up Judicial exam
Candidates must understand the pattern and syllabus first and accordingly start preparing a plan of study. Make sure to cover all the important topics. Also, refer to books and study online as well. Solve as many mock tests and previous years’ papers to understand the pattern. This will help in maintaining speed and accuracy as well.
