The terms ‘conservatory’ and ‘garden room’ are often used interchangeably. However, there is a big difference between these spaces. A conservatory is being built on a house and serves as additional living space. A conservatory is really pulled at the house and ventilation, insulation and other things are adjusted accordingly. Often a complete renovation before everything is completely neat again.
A garden room is also an enclosed space (such as a conservatory), but it is not part of a house from an architectural point of view. A garden room is not insulated and is therefore much more transparent and flexible than a traditional conservatory. Due to the large amount of glass, it is pleasant to warm all year round. However, it is never too hot, because in warm summer weather the walls open completely. The installation only takes a few days and can be done without structural changes. The facade therefore remains intact, as do all other facilities. That’s nice.

It makes a difference per region which name is used for a roof at the house. A garden room is almost always an enclosed space directly next to a house. This name is correct when a roof is closed with sliding glass walls, but is used less often. We mainly use the word ‘terrace covering’.
